Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
आगताः स्म यथा उद्दिष्टम् यम् देशम् मुनिः अब्रवीत् ।
अयम् पंचवटी देशः सौम्य पुष्पित काननः ॥३-१५-२॥
āgatāḥ sma yathā uddiṣṭam yam deśam muniḥ abravīt |
ayam pañcavaṭī deśaḥ saumya puṣpita kānanaḥ ॥3-15-2॥
Translation
O Gentle One! We have arrived at the region mentioned by the Sage (Agastya), exactly as directed. This is indeed the region of Panchavati, with its forests in full bloom.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे सौम्य! जिस स्थान के विषय में मुनि (अगस्त्य) ने बताया था और जैसा निर्देश दिया था, हम उस स्थान पर आ गए हैं। यही वह पंचवटी प्रदेश है जहाँ वन पुष्पों से सुशोभित है।
English Commentary
Rama confirms adherence to the navigation provided by Sage Agastya. By addressing Lakshmana as 'Saumya' (Gentle One), he creates a calm atmosphere despite the wild surroundings. While the previous verse noted predators, Rama focuses here on the 'pushpita kananah' (blooming forests). This highlights Rama's aesthetic sensibility and his ability to find beauty and peace amidst adversity. It also reinforces the theme of obedience to sages; they have not settled randomly but have strictly followed the guidance of the wise Agastya to reach this specific auspicious location.

राम यहाँ पुष्टि करते हैं कि वे सही गंतव्य पर पहुँच गए हैं। वे लक्ष्मण को 'सौम्य' कहकर संबोधित करते हैं, जो लक्ष्मण की मृदुता और आज्ञाकारिता को दर्शाता है। यद्यपि वन हिंसक पशुओं से भरा है (जैसा पिछले श्लोक में कहा गया), राम की दृष्टि यहाँ की सुंदरता पर है—'पुष्पित काननः'। यह राम की सकारात्मक दृष्टि (positive outlook) को दर्शाता है जो कठिन परिस्थितियों में भी सौंदर्य और अनुकूलता खोज लेते हैं। मुनि अगस्त्य के वचनों का पालन करके राम गुरु-आज्ञा पालन का आदर्श प्रस्तुत कर रहे हैं।
