Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सर्वतः चार्यताम् दृष्टिः कानने निपुणो हि असि ।
आश्रमः कतर अस्मिन् नः देशे भवति सम्मतः ॥३-१५-३॥
sarvataḥ cāryatām dṛṣṭiḥ kānane nipuṇo hi asi |
āśramaḥ katara asmin naḥ deśe bhavati sammataḥ ॥3-15-3॥
Translation
Cast your gaze all around the forest. You are indeed skilled in these matters. Determine which spot in this region would be suitable for our hermitage.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अपनी दृष्टि को वन में चारों ओर घुमाओ। तुम इन कार्यों में निपुण हो। निश्चय करो कि इस वन में किस स्थान पर आश्रम बनाना हम लोगों के लिए उचित होगा।
English Commentary
Rama explicitly acknowledges Lakshmana's competence with the phrase 'nipuno hi asi' (you are indeed skilled). Although Rama is the leader, he delegates the critical task of site selection to Lakshmana, trusting his judgment in practical matters. This illustrates the dynamic between the brothers: Rama provides the vision/direction, while Lakshmana provides the execution/skill. Rama is asking for a spot that is 'sammatah' (agreeable/suitable), implying a balance between strategic safety, religious suitability, and comfort, knowing Lakshmana has the eye to find such a balance.

यहाँ राम लक्ष्मण की योग्यता को मान्यता देते हैं—'निपुणो हि असि' (तुम वास्तव में निपुण हो)। यद्यपि राम बड़े भाई और स्वामी हैं, वे निर्णय प्रक्रिया में लक्ष्मण को शामिल करते हैं और उनके कौशल ('Resource Management' और 'Site Selection') पर भरोसा जताते हैं। यह एक अच्छे नेतृत्व का लक्षण है। राम जानते हैं कि व्यावहारिक कार्यों और सुरक्षा व्यवस्था में लक्ष्मण की बुद्धि तीक्ष्ण है। 'सम्म तः' (उचित/स्वीकार्य) शब्द का प्रयोग बताता है कि स्थान ऐसा होना चाहिए जो धर्म अनुकूल हो और व्यावहारिक रूप से रहने योग्य भी।
