समीकृत तलाम् रम्याम् चकार सुमहाबलः ।
निवासम् राघवस्य अर्थे प्रेक्ष्णीयम् अनुत्तमम् ॥ ॥३-१५-२३॥
Samīkṛta talām ramyām cakāra sumahābalaḥ । Nivāsam rāghavasya arthe prekṣṇīyam anuttamam ॥ ॥3-15-23॥
Translation
The mighty Lakshmana leveled the floor and created a beautiful, distinct, and excellent residence for the sake of Raghava.

उस महाबली (लक्षित) ने फर्श को समतल कर दिया और राघव (राम) के लिए एक अत्यंत सुंदर, दर्शनीय और सर्वोत्तम निवास स्थान तैयार कर दिया।
English Commentary
Valmiki refers to Lakshmana here as 'Sumahābalaḥ' (the exceptionally mighty one). While this usually denotes martial strength, here it underscores his immense capacity for labor and service, building such a structure single-handedly. Leveling the floor ('Samīkṛta talām') ensured comfort for living. The core sentiment is 'Rāghavasya arthe'—for the sake of Raghava. Every action of Lakshmana is dedicated to Rama's comfort. He made the hut 'Prekṣṇīyam' (worthy of seeing/beautiful) and 'Anuttamam' (unsurpassed). This reflects the theology of Bhakti (devotion): the devotee strives to offer not just what is necessary, but the absolute best ('Anuttamam') to the Lord, transforming a forest hut into a divine abode.

वाल्मीकि जी यहाँ लक्ष्मण के लिए 'सुमहाबलः' (अत्यंत बलवान) विशेषण का प्रयोग करते हैं। यह शारीरिक बल के साथ-साथ उनके सेवा-बल को भी दर्शाता है, क्योंकि अकेले ही उन्होंने इतने कम समय में ऐसा सुंदर भवन खड़ा कर दिया। 'समीकृत तलाम्' (समतल फर्श) सुखद नींद और बैठने के लिए आवश्यक है। सबसे महत्वपूर्ण बात यह है कि उन्होंने इसे 'राघवस्य अर्थे' (राघव के लिए) बनाया। लक्ष्मण के कर्म का एकमात्र उद्देश्य राम का सुख है। उन्होंने कुटिया को 'प्रेक्ष्णीयम्' (देखने योग्य) और 'अनुत्तमम्' (जिससे उत्तम कुछ न हो) बना दिया। यह भक्ति की पराकाष्ठा है—अपने स्वामी के लिए वन में भी महल जैसा सुख और सौंदर्य उत्पन्न करना।
