Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अवश्याय निपातेन किंचित् प्रक्लिन्न शाद्वला ।
वनानाम् शोभते भूमिर् निविष्ट तरुण आतपा ॥ ॥३-१६-२०॥
Avaśyāya nipātena kiṃcit praklinna śādvalā । Vanānām śobhate bhūmir niviṣṭa taruṇa ātapā ॥ ॥3-16-20॥
Translation
The forest ground, where the green grass is slightly wet due to the falling dew, looks beautiful with the young (morning) sunlight resting upon it.
हिंदी अनुवाद
ओस (अवश्याय) के गिरने से, वनों की भूमि जहाँ घास (शाद्वल) थोड़ी गीली हो गई है, उस पर गिरती हुई कोमल (तरुण) धूप से वह अत्यंत सुशोभित हो रही है।
English Commentary

यह श्लोक प्रकाश और आर्द्रता (नमी) के मिलन का चित्र है। 'अवश्याय' का अर्थ है ओस। 'प्रक्लिन्न शाद्वला' का अर्थ है गीली घास वाली भूमि। जब इस गीली हरी घास पर 'तरुण आतपः' (नयी/सुबह की धूप) पड़ती है, तो वह चमक उठती है। 'तरुण' शब्द धूप के लिए प्रयोग किया गया है जो उसकी कोमलता और ताजगी को दर्शाता है। वनों की भूमि का यह दृश्य अत्यंत शांतिपूर्ण और मनोहारी है, जो राम और लक्ष्मण के वन-भ्रमण के मार्ग को अलंकृत कर रहा है।
