अहम् प्रभाव संपन्ना स्वच्छंद बल गामिनी ।
चिराय भव भर्ता मे सीतया किम् करिष्यसि ॥ ॥३-१७-२५॥
Aham prabhāva sampannā svacchanda bala gāminī |
Cirāya bhava bhartā me sītayā kim kariṣyasi ॥3-17-25॥
Translation
"I am endowed with power and can move about by my own free will and strength. Become my husband for a long time. What will you do with Sita?"

"मैं प्रभाव से युक्त हूँ और अपनी इच्छा तथा बल से कहीं भी जा सकती हूँ। आप चिरकाल के लिए मेरे पति बन जाएँ। इस सीता के साथ आप क्या करेंगे?"
English Commentary
Shurpanakha pitches herself as a strategic asset. She emphasizes her autonomy (svacchanda) and power (prabhāva), suggesting she can offer Rama a life of ease and dominance in the forest, unlike the constraints of caring for a human wife. Her question, "What will you do with Sita?" is dismissive and utilitarian. She views relationships through the lens of power and utility. To her, Sita is "dead weight" in the harsh wilderness, whereas she, Shurpanakha, is a force of nature. She invites Rama to abandon the weak for the strong.
