ततः पर्वत शृंगाणि वनानि विविधानि च ।
पश्यन् सह मया कामी दण्डकान् विचरिष्यसि ॥ ॥३-१७-२८॥
Tataḥ parvata śṛṃgāṇi vanāni vividhāni ca |
Paśyan saha mayā kāmī daṇḍakān vicariṣyasi ॥3-17-28॥
Translation
"Then, desiring pleasure, you will roam the Dandaka forest with me, beholding mountain peaks and various forests."

"तब आप मेरे साथ, काम-सुख की इच्छा (कामी) रखते हुए, विभिन्न पर्वतों के शिखरों और वनों को देखते हुए दंडकारण्य में विहार करेंगे।"
English Commentary
Shurpanakha concludes her proposal by offering Rama the life of a hedonistic wanderer. By using the word Kāmī (desirous/lover), she projects her own lust onto him, assuming he shares her desire for sensual pleasure. She offers him a guided tour of the inaccessible beauty of Dandakaranya—mountain peaks and deep forests—leveraging her local knowledge as a perk of the union. She promises a life of leisure and sightseeing, devoid of the hardships of asceticism, hoping this carefree existence will appeal to the exiled prince.

शूर्पणखा अपना प्रस्ताव समाप्त करते हुए राम को वन-विहार का प्रलोभन देती है। 'कामी' शब्द का प्रयोग यहाँ महत्वपूर्ण है; वह राम को अपनी ही तरह काम-वासना से ग्रस्त मान रही है। वह उन्हें राजा के कर्तव्यों से दूर, केवल 'पश्यन्' (देखते हुए) और 'विचरिष्यसि' (घूमते हुए) एक पर्यटक का जीवन देना चाहती है। राक्षसों के लिए दंडकारण्य उनका घर है, और वह वादा करती है कि वह राम को वे दुर्गम स्थान दिखाएगी जहाँ साधारण मनुष्य नहीं जा सकते। यह उसके प्रस्ताव का अंतिम आकर्षण (closing pitch) है।
