Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
उवास सुखितः तत्र पूज्यमानो महर्षभः।
स रामः पर्ण शालायाम् आसीनः सह सीतया ॥ ॥३-१७-३॥
uvāsa sukhitaḥ tatra pūjyamāno maharṣabhaḥ|
sa rāmaḥ parṇa śālāyām āsīnaḥ saha sītayā ॥3-17-3॥
Translation
That great bull among men (Rama) sat happily there in the leaf-hut with Sita, being honored (by Lakshmana).
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे महर्षभ (पुरुष श्रेष्ठ राम) वहां सीता के साथ पर्णकुटी में सुखपूर्वक बैठे थे और (लक्ष्मण द्वारा) पूजित/सम्मानित हो रहे थे।
English Commentary
Rama is described as Maharshabhah (Great Bull), a traditional metaphor for a noble, strong male. The word sukhitah (happily) is ironic in retrospect, representing the final moments of domestic bliss before the abduction saga begins. Rama sitting with Sita while being attended to by Lakshmana represents the ideal harmonic order, which is about to be disrupted by chaos (the Rakshasi).

'महर्षभ' (महान बैल/पुरुष श्रेष्ठ) राम के पौरुष और गरिमा का सूचक है। 'सुखितः' (सुखी) शब्द यहाँ बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है। यह 'तूफान से पहले की शांति' (calm before the storm) है। राम सीता के साथ एकांत और शांति का अनुभव कर रहे हैं। यह सुख क्षणभंगुर है, क्योंकि अगले ही क्षण शूर्पणखा का आगमन होगा। यह दृश्य पाठकों के मन में करुणा उत्पन्न करता है क्योंकि वे जानते हैं कि यह सुख अब समाप्त होने वाला है।
