विराजा महा बाहुः चित्रया चन्द्रमा इव ।
लक्ष्मणेन सह भ्रात्रा चकार विविधाः कथाः ॥ ॥३-१७-४॥
virarāja mahā bāhuḥ citrayā candramā iva |
lakṣmaṇena saha bhrātrā cakāra vividhāḥ kathāḥ ॥3-17-4॥
Translation
The mighty-armed Rama shone (with Sita) like the Moon with the star Chitra, and he engaged in various conversations with his brother Lakshmana.

चित्रा नक्षत्र के साथ चंद्रमा की भांति, वे महाबाहु (राम) (सीता के साथ) सुशोभित हो रहे थे और अपने भाई लक्ष्मण के साथ नाना प्रकार की बातें कर रहे थे।
English Commentary
The simile relates Rama and Sita to the Moon and the star Chitra, symbolizing a perfect, cosmically aligned union. While sitting in this radiant state, Rama chats casually with Lakshmana. This scene of vividhah kathah (diverse conversations) humanizes the divine figures, showing them relaxing. It creates a picture of idyllic beauty and familial love, maximizing the contrast with the grotesque form of Shurpanakha who is about to enter.
