तौ हत्वा ताम् च दुर्वृत्ताम् उपावर्तितुम् अर्हथ ।
इयम् च रुधिरम् तेषाम् भगिनी मम पास्यति ॥ ॥३-१९-२३॥
Tau hatvā tām ca durvṛttām upāvartitum arhatha । Iyam ca rudhiram teṣām bhaginī mama pāsyati ॥ ॥3-19-23॥
Translation
You must return only after killing those two and that woman of wicked conduct. My sister here shall then drink their blood.

उन दोनों (राम-लक्ष्मण) को और उस दुराचारिणी (सीता) को मारकर तुम्हें वापस आना चाहिए। मेरी यह बहन उन तीनों का रक्त पिएगी।
English Commentary
Khara sets a strict condition for his soldiers' return: total annihilation of the enemy. By commanding them to return only after killing (hatva) the trio, he leaves no room for failure or negotiation. He reiterates the grisly reward for Shurpanakha—drinking their blood—solidifying the motive of this mission as varying parts vengeance and primal gratification. Labeling Sita as durvrittam (wicked) again shows how effectively Shurpanakha’s narrative has taken root. This verse establishes the high stakes for the fourteen Rakshasas; their master expects nothing less than the corpses of the humans to satiate his sister.

खर अपने सैनिकों को 'मिशन' का अंतिम लक्ष्य स्पष्ट कर रहा है। 'उपावर्तितुम् अर्हथ' (वापस आना चाहिए) का अर्थ है कि कार्य पूरा किए बिना लौटने की अनुमति नहीं है। वह सीता को पुनः 'दुर्वृत्ताम्' (बुरे चरित्र वाली) कहता है, जो शूर्पणखा के झूठ को सत्य मान लेने का परिणाम है। खर के लिए यह केवल एक युद्ध नहीं, बल्कि अपनी बहन की प्यास बुझाने का अनुष्ठान है। यहाँ राक्षस संस्कृति की क्रूरता स्पष्ट होती है, जहाँ विजय का उत्सव शत्रु के रक्तपान से मनाया जाता है। यह आदेश उन चौदह राक्षसों पर भारी दबाव डालता है कि वे असफल होकर नहीं लौट सकते।
