निहतस्य मया संख्ये शर संकृत्त मर्मणः ।
सफेनम् रुधिरम् कस्य मेदिनी पातुम् इच्छसि ॥ ॥३-१९-९॥
Nihatasya mayā saṃkhye śara saṃkṛtta marmaṇaḥ । Saphenam rudhiram kasya medinī pātum icchasi ॥ ॥3-19-9॥
Translation
Whose frothy blood, killed by me in battle with vital parts severed by arrows, do you wish the earth to drink?

युद्ध में मेरे द्वारा मारे गए और बाणों से जिनके मर्म (कोमल अंग) काट दिए गए हैं, उस किस (शत्रु) का झागदार खून तुम पृथ्वी को पिलाना चाहती हो?
English Commentary
Khara paints a gruesome picture of the battlefield to comfort his sister. He asks whose blood the Earth should drink. The description is medically precise and horrifying: saphenam rudhiram (frothy blood) implies a puncture of the lungs or vital organs (marmaṇaḥ), causing air to mix with blood. He assures her that his arrows will sever these vital points. This imagery serves to validate his power and promise a violent, satisfying revenge for Shurpanakha. It reflects the Raudra Rasa (sentiment of furious terror) dominant in this interaction.

खर अब अपनी बहन से पूछता है कि वह किसका वध चाहती है। दृश्य अत्यंत वीभत्स (graphic) है। 'शर संकृत्त मर्मणः' का अर्थ है जिसके मर्मस्थल (vital organs) बाणों से छिन्न-भिन्न कर दिए गए हों। 'सफेनम् रुधिरम्' (झागदार खून) बताता है कि बाण फेफड़ों या हृदय जैसे अंगों पर लगेंगे, जिससे रक्त वायु के साथ मिलकर झागदार हो जाता है। खर अपनी बहन को यह विश्वास दिलाना चाहता है कि शत्रु का अंत अत्यंत भयानक होगा और धरती उसकी प्यास उस शत्रु के रक्त से बुझाएगी। यह राक्षसी प्रवृत्ति का परिचायक है जहाँ रक्तपात को संतोष का विषय माना जाता है।
