English Commentary
Viradha's arrogance peaks here as he threatens to drink their blood ('rudhiram pāsyāmi') in combat ('mṛdhe'). By repeatedly calling them 'pāpayoḥ' (sinners), he attempts to dehumanize them before killing them. The second line shifts the narrative voice back to the poet, labeling Viradha as 'durātmanaḥ' (evil-souled) and his speech as 'duṣṭam' (wicked/offensive). This transition marks the end of Viradha's initial monologue and sets the stage for the emotional reaction of the protagonists, specifically Sita, in the following verses.
