वासानम् चर्म वैयाघ्रम् वस आर्द्रम् रुधिरोक्षितम् ।
त्रासनम् सर्व भूतानाम् व्यादितास्यम् इव अन्तकम् ॥३-२-६॥
vasānam carma vaiyāghram vasa ārdram rudhirokṣitam |
trāsanam sarva bhūtānām vyāditāsyam iva antakam ॥3-2-6॥
Translation
He was wearing a tiger's skin that was wet with fat and splattered with blood. He was terrifying to all beings, appearing like Death (Antaka) with a gaping mouth.

उसने बाघ का चमड़ा (व्याघ्र चर्म) पहना हुआ था जो वसा (चर्बी) से गीला था और खून से सना हुआ था। वह सभी प्राणियों को भयभीत करने वाला था और मुख फैलाए हुए यमराज (अन्तक) के समान लग रहा था।
English Commentary
The sensory description intensifies with tactile and olfactory elements implied. He wears a tiger skin, but unlike the dried skins of ascetics, this one is 'vasa ārdram' (wet with fat) and 'rudhirokṣitam' (smeared with blood)—a visceral image of raw slaughter. He is the embodiment of terror ('trāsanam'). The simile 'vyāditāsyam iva antakam' (like Death with a gaping mouth) elevates him from a mere forest beast to a personification of mortality and doom. He represents the ultimate predator in the food chain, threatening the civilized order represented by Rama.
