तान् भूमौ पतितान् दृष्ट्वा क्षणेन एव महाजवान् ।
रामस्य च महत् कर्म महान् त्रासो अभवन् मम ॥ ॥३-२१-१०॥
tān bhūmau patitān dṛṣṭvā kṣaṇena eva mahājavān |
rāmasya ca mahat karma mahān trāso abhavan mama ॥3-21-10॥
Translation
Seeing those mighty (swift) demons fallen on the ground in a mere instant, and witnessing Rama's great deed, a great terror seized me.

उन महावेगवान राक्षसों को एक क्षण में ही भूमि पर गिरा हुआ (मरा हुआ) देखकर, और राम के उस महान (पराक्रमी) कर्म को देखकर, मुझे महान भय (त्रास) उत्पन्न हुआ।
English Commentary
Shurpanakha concludes her report by confessing her terror (mahān trāso). The juxtaposition of mahājavān (demons of great speed/might) and kṣaṇena eva (in a single moment) highlights the disparity in power. She acknowledges Rama's feat as mahat karma (a great deed), implicitly admitting his superiority over the squad sent. This confession of fear is crucial—it tells Khara that this enemy is not ordinary, and mere foot soldiers will not suffice.

शूर्पणखा अपनी मनोवैज्ञानिक स्थिति का वर्णन करती है। जिन राक्षसों को वह 'महाजवान्' (अत्यंत वेगवान/शक्तिशाली) मानती थी, उनका 'क्षणेन एव' (पल भर में) नाश हो जाना अकल्पनीय था। इसे वह राम का 'महत् कर्म' (महान/अद्भुत कार्य) कहती है। यहाँ 'त्रास' (आतंक/डर) शब्द महत्वपूर्ण है—शूर्पणखा अब तक केवल क्रोधित थी, किन्तु राम के इस पराक्रम को देखकर वह पहली बार भयभीत हुई है। यह भय ही उसे खर के पास वापस लाया है ताकि खर स्वयं जाकर युद्ध करे।
