दण्डकारण्य निलयम् जहि राक्षस कण्टकम् ।
यदि रामम् अमित्रघ्नम् न त्वम् अद्य वधिष्यसि ॥ ॥३-२१-१५॥
daṇḍakāraṇya nilayam jahi rākṣasa kaṇṭakam |
yadi rāmam amitraghnam na tvam adya vadhiṣyasi ॥3-21-15॥
Translation
...then kill that Rama, who resides in Dandakaranya and is a thorn in the side of the Rakshasas. If you do not kill that slayer of foes (Rama) today...

...(तो) दण्डकारण्य में रहने वाले, राक्षसों के लिए काँटे (कंटक) के समान उस राम का संहार करो। यदि तुम आज उस शत्रुनाशी राम का वध नहीं करोगे...
English Commentary
Shurpanakha completes her ultimatum. She identifies Rama as rākṣasa kaṇṭakam—a thorn to the demon race—framing the conflict not just as personal revenge, but as a political necessity for the survival of the Rakshasas in Dandakaranya. The imperative jahi (kill) leaves no room for negotiation. Interestingly, she calls Rama amitraghnam (slayer of foes), acknowledging his threat level. The structure "If you do not kill him today..." sets up the consequence described in the next verse, raising the stakes to a matter of life and death.

पिछले श्लोक की शर्त का यह परिणाम (conclusion) है। शूर्पणखा राम को 'राक्षस कण्टकम्' (राक्षसों का काँटा/शत्रु) कहती है, जिसका अर्थ है कि राम का अस्तित्व ही पूरी राक्षस जाति के लिए पीड़ादायक है। वह स्पष्ट आदेश देती है—'जहि' (मार डालो)। साथ ही, वह राम के लिए 'अमित्रघ्नम्' (शत्रुओं का नाश करने वाला) विशेषण का प्रयोग करती है, जो खर को चेतावनी है कि राम साधारण नहीं है, वह शत्रुओं का नाश करने में सक्षम है, इसलिए यदि खर ने उसे नहीं मारा, तो राम खर को मार देगा।
