Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तान् तु निर्धावतो दृष्ट्वा राक्षसान् भीम दर्शनम् ।
खरस्य अथ रथः किंचित् जगाम तत् अनन्तरम् ॥३-२२-२१॥
tān tu nirdhāvato dṛṣṭvā rākṣasān bhīma darśanam |
kharasya atha rathaḥ kiṃcit jagāma tat anantaram ॥3-22-21॥
Translation
Seeing those terrifying demons rushing forth, Khara's chariot then moved, following closely behind them.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उन भयानक दिखने वाले राक्षसों को तेजी से दौड़ते हुए देखकर, खर का रथ उनके पीछे-पीछे (थोड़ी दूरी पर) चला।
English Commentary
This verse describes the formation of the marching army. The infantry and other warriors are 'Nirdhavatah' (rushing/running out), indicating high morale and aggression. Khara positions himself 'Tat anantaram' (immediately after/behind them). This is a strategic position for a commander, allowing him to drive his forces forward while remaining protected by the vanguard. It visualizes a tidal wave of demons sweeping through the forest, with the warlord surfing just behind the crest of the wave, directing its fury towards the target.

यह श्लोक युद्ध यात्रा (Marching formation) का वर्णन करता है। पैदल सेना और अन्य योद्धा 'निर्धावतः' (दौड़ रहे हैं/तेजी से आगे बढ़ रहे हैं), जो उनके उत्साह और आक्रामकता को दिखाता है। खर का रथ उनके ठीक पीछे है, जो एक सेनानायक की उचित स्थिति है—वह अपनी सेना को आगे रखकर उसका संचालन कर रहा है, लेकिन उनसे दूर नहीं है। 'किंचित् अनन्तरम्' (थोड़ा पीछे) का अर्थ है कि वह सेना की सुरक्षा और निगरानी कर रहा है। यह दृश्य एक लहर की तरह आगे बढ़ती हुई विनाशकारी शक्ति का है, जिसके केंद्र में खर है।
