गजैः पर्वत कूट अभैः रामम् युद्धे जिंघासवः ।
ते रामे शर वर्षाणि व्यसृजन् रक्षसाम् गणाः ॥ ॥३-२५-१०॥
Gajaiḥ parvata kūṭa abhaiḥ rāmam yuddhe jiṃghāsavaḥ |
Te rāme śara varṣāṇi vyasṛjan rakṣasām gaṇāḥ ॥3-25-10॥
Translation
Mounted on elephants resembling mountain peaks, and desiring to kill Rama in battle, those hordes of Rakshasas unleashed showers of arrows upon him.

पर्वत के शिखरों के समान विशाल हाथियों पर सवार, श्री राम को मारने की इच्छा रखने वाले उन राक्षस समूहों ने युद्ध में राम पर बाणों की वर्षा कर दी।
English Commentary
This verse completes the picture of a traditional four-limbed army (infantry, cavalry, chariots, and elephants). Comparing the elephants to parvata kuta (mountain peaks) emphasizes the sheer scale of the enemies looming over Rama. The term jimghamsavah (desiring to kill/destroy) highlights their malicious intent. It is not just a contest of victory but a fight for survival. The Rakshasas are releasing arrows from a vantage point (atop elephants), creating a downward rain of projectiles that is particularly difficult to deflect from the ground.

राक्षसी सेना की चतुरंगिणी (चार अंगों वाली) प्रकृति यहाँ पूर्ण होती है—पैदल, घोड़े, रथ और अब हाथी। हाथियों की तुलना 'पर्वत कूट' (पर्वत की चोटियों) से करना उनकी विशालता और स्थिरता को दर्शाता है। 'जिंघासवः' (मारने की इच्छा रखने वाले) शब्द उनकी हिंसक प्रवृत्ति को स्पष्ट करता है। एक अकेले योद्धा पर हाथियों से बाण वर्षा करना एक अत्यंत कठिन परिस्थिति है। यह दृश्य प्रकृति के तत्वों (पर्वत, बादल) का उपयोग करके युद्ध की भीषणता को बढ़ाता है, जहाँ राम एक अचल ध्रुव की भाँति खड़े हैं।
