Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
बभूव रामः सन्ध्य अभ्रैः दिवाकर इव आवृतः ।
विषेदुर् देव गन्धर्वाः सिद्धाः च परम ऋषयः ॥ ॥३-२५-१५॥
Babhūva rāmaḥ sandhya abhraiḥ divākara iva āvṛtaḥ |
Viṣedur deva gandharvāḥ siddhāḥ ca parama ṛṣayaḥ ॥3-25-15॥
Translation
Rama looked like the sun surrounded by red evening clouds. Seeing him thus, the Devas, Gandharvas, Siddhas, and great Sages fell into despondency.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(रक्त से लथपथ) राम, संध्याकालीन लाल बादलों से घिरे हुए सूर्य के समान प्रतीत हो रहे थे। (उनकी ऐसी दशा देखकर) देवता, गन्धर्व, सिद्ध और परम ऋषि विषाद (दुःख) से भर गए।
English Commentary
The visual imagery aligns perfectly with the previous verse. The blood covering Rama makes him resemble the sun shrouded in the crimson clouds of sunset (sandhya abhra). While beautiful in a poetic sense, it signals danger. The reaction of the celestial observers (Devas, Rishis) is one of visheduh (despair/depression). Their anxiety serves as a narrative device to heighten the stakes, showing that even the gods, who know Rama's divinity, are shaken by the ferocity of this physical assault.

यहाँ 'सन्ध्य अभ्रैः' (संध्या के बादलों) की उपमा अत्यंत सटीक है क्योंकि संध्या के बादल सूर्य की लालिमा के कारण लाल दिखते हैं। राम का तेजस्वी मुख 'सूर्य' है और उनका रक्तरंजित शरीर 'लाल बादलों' के समान है। यह दृश्य इतना करुण और भयानक था कि आकाश में स्थित देवता और ऋषि 'विषेदुः' (विषाद में आ गए)। उन्हें लगा कि शायद आज असत्य की जीत हो जाएगी। यह श्लोक पाठकों के मन में भी तनाव (tension) उत्पन्न करता है कि क्या राम इस संकट से निकल पाएंगे।
