Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एकम् सहस्रैः बहुभिः तदा दृष्ट्वा समावृतम् ।
ततो रामः तु सुसंक्रुद्धो मण्डली कृत कार्मुकः ॥ ॥३-२५-१६॥
Ekam sahasraiḥ bahubhiḥ tadā dṛṣṭvā samāvṛtam |
Tato rāmaḥ tu susaṃkruddho maṇḍalī kṛta kārmukah ॥3-25-16॥
Translation
Then, seeing himself one alone surrounded by many thousands, Rama became exceedingly angry and drew his bow until it bent into a full circle.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब, स्वयं को अकेले (एकम्) हज़ारों (सहस्रैः) शत्रुओं से घिरा हुआ देखकर, श्री राम अत्यंत क्रोधित हुए और उन्होंने अपने धनुष को (खींचकर) मण्डलाकार (गोलाकार) कर लिया।
English Commentary
This verse marks the turning point from endurance to retaliation. The contrast between ekam (one) and sahasraih (thousands) triggers the shift. Rama becomes susamkruddha (righteous wrath invoked). The phrase mandalikrita karmukah describes the mechanics of supreme archery: drawing the bowstring back so far that the bow bends into a perfect circle. This circular shape symbolizes the fullness of his power about to be unleashed. The 'waiting' phase is over; the offensive begins.

यह युद्ध का निर्णायक मोड़ है। अभी तक राम केवल प्रहार सह रहे थे, अब वे प्रतिशोध के लिए तैयार हैं। 'एकम्' (अकेला) और 'सहस्रैः' (हजारों) का विरोधाभास यहाँ फिर से उभारा गया है। 'सुसंक्रुद्धो' (अत्यंत क्रोधित) शब्द दर्शाता है कि राम का क्रोध अब सीमा पार कर चुका है। धनुष को 'मण्डली कृत' करना एक तकनीकी वर्णन है—इसका अर्थ है कि प्रत्यंचा को कान तक इतना खींचा गया कि धनुष आधे चाँद से बदलकर पूर्ण वृत्त (circle) जैसा दिखने लगा। यह विनाशकारी बाण वर्षा का संकेत है।
