तत् सैन्यम् निशितैः बाणैः अर्दितम् मर्म भेदिभिः ।
न रामेण सुखम् लेभे शुष्कम् वनम् इव अग्निना ॥ ॥३-२५-२६॥
Tat sainyam niśitaiḥ bāṇaiḥ arditam marma bhedibhiḥ |
Na rāmeṇa sukham lebhe śuṣkam vanam iva agninā ॥3-25-26॥
Translation
Tormented by sharp arrows piercing their vital organs, that army found no relief from Rama, just as a dry forest finds no relief from fire.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मर्म (कोमल अंगों) को भेदने वाले तीखे बाणों से पीड़ित वह सेना राम के कारण तनिक भी सुख (शांति) नहीं पा सकी, जैसे सूखा वन अग्नि से (शांति नहीं पाता और जल जाता है)।
English Commentary
The metaphor of the forest fire is revisited to emphasize helplessness. The army is compared to a shushkam vanam (dry forest), which is highly combustible, and Rama is the fire. Just as dry wood cannot resist fire, the army cannot resist Rama. The arrows are marma bhedibhih—piercing the vital points. This indicates that Rama is targeting the most vulnerable spots for maximum efficiency. The phrase na sukham lebhe (obtained no happiness/relief) indicates a state of total panic and torment.

यहाँ 'मर्म भेदिभिः' महत्वपूर्ण है। मर्म शरीर के वे स्थान हैं जहाँ चोट लगने से तत्काल मृत्यु या असहनीय पीड़ा होती है। राम का ज्ञान इतना सूक्ष्म है कि वे सीधे मर्म पर प्रहार कर रहे हैं। उपमा 'शुष्कम् वनम् इव अग्निना' (सूखे वन में आग) बहुत प्रसिद्ध है। जैसे सूखे जंगल में आग लगने पर पेड़ों के पास बचने का कोई उपाय नहीं होता और आग तेजी से फैलती है, वैसे ही राम का कोप राक्षस सेना को भस्म कर रहा है। 'न सुखम् लेभे' का अर्थ है कि उन्हें भागने या बचने का कोई अवसर नहीं मिला।
