Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
शर अन्धकारम् आकाशम् आवृणोत् स दिवाकरम् ।
बभूव अवस्थितो रामः प्रक्षिपन् इव तान् शरान् ॥ ॥३-२५-४०॥
Śara andhakāram ākāśam āvṛṇot sa divākaram । Babhūva avasthito Rāmaḥ prakṣipan iva tān śarān ॥ ॥3-25-40॥
Translation
He covered the sky and the sun with the darkness of his arrows. While hurling those arrows, Rama appeared to be standing perfectly still.

राम ने बाणों के अंधकार से आकाश और सूर्य को ढक दिया। वे बाणों को छोड़ते हुए भी ऐसे स्थिर प्रतीत हो रहे थे मानो चुपचाप खड़े हों।
English Commentary
This verse employs powerful imagery and paradox. Rama creates a 'darkness of arrows' ('śara andhakāram') so dense that it eclipses the sun ('divākaram'). Yet, amidst this kinetic explosion, Rama himself appears 'avasthito'—stationary or poised. This suggests a flawless economy of motion; he isn't flailing or straining. He is the calm center of the storm he has created. The phrase 'prakṣipan iva' (as if casting) implies effortless action. It highlights the concept of effortless mastery where the warrior and the weapon act in such unity that the physical exertion is hidden, leaving only the devastating result and the warrior's serene posture visible.

यहाँ पुनः विरोधाभास अलंकार का सुंदर प्रयोग है। एक ओर राम ने इतने बाण छोड़े कि 'शर अन्धकारम्' हो गया और साक्षात सूर्य ('दिवाकरम्') भी ढक गया—दिन में रात हो गई। दूसरी ओर, इतनी तीव्र गति से कार्य करते हुए भी राम 'अवस्थितो' (स्थिर/शांत) प्रतीत हो रहे थे। 'प्रक्षिपन् इव' का अर्थ है कि बाणों की वर्षा तो हो रही थी, लेकिन राम के शरीर में कोई थका देने वाली हलचल या अस्थिरता नहीं थी। यह एक योगी की भांति युद्ध करने का चित्रण है—कर्म में अकर्म। बाहर प्रलय है, किन्तु केंद्र में पूर्ण शांति है। यह राम के चरित्र की दृढ़ता और उनके युद्ध कौशल की सहजता को रेखांकित करता है।
