निहताः पतिताः क्षीणा च्छिन्न भिन्न विदारिताः ।
तत्र तत्र स्म दृश्यन्ते राक्षसाः ते सहस्रशः ॥ ॥३-२५-४२॥
Nihatāḥ patitāḥ kṣīṇā cchinna bhinna vidāritāḥ । Tatra tatra sma dṛśyante rākṣasāḥ te sahasraśaḥ ॥ ॥3-25-42॥
Translation
Those demons were seen there by the thousands—slain, fallen, exhausted, cut, broken, and torn apart, scattered here and there.

हजारों की संख्या में वे राक्षस वहां मारे गए, गिरे हुए, शक्तिहीन, कटे हुए, टूटे हुए और विदीर्ण (फटे हुए) दशा में जहाँ-तहाँ दिखाई दे रहे थे।
English Commentary
This verse surveys the grim aftermath of the Gandharva Astra. It uses a cascade of participles to describe the state of the defeated army: 'nihatāḥ' (slain), 'kṣīṇā' (wasted/exhausted), 'cchinna' (cut/severed), 'bhinna' (broken/split), and 'vidāritāḥ' (torn apart/pierced). This graphic detailing evokes 'Bibhatsa Rasa' (sentiment of disgust/horror), illustrating the sheer physical devastation wrought by the divine arrows. The phrase 'tatra tatra' (here and there) combined with 'sahasraśaḥ' (by the thousands) indicates a landscape littered with carnage. It signifies the total annihilation of Dushana's forces, marking the end of the collective assault and leaving only the commanders to face Rama's wrath.
