Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एतस्मिन्नन्तरे क्रुद्धास्त्रयः सेनाग्रयायिनः ।
संहत्याभ्यद्रवन् रामं मृत्युपाशावपाशिताः ॥ ॥३-२६-१७॥
Etasminnantare kruddhāstrayaḥ senāgrayāyinaḥ |
Saṃhatyābhyadravan rāmaṃ mṛtyupāśāvapāśitāḥ ॥3-26-17॥
Translation
In the meantime, three enraged generals (leaders of the vanguard) rushed together at Rama. They were (already) caught in the noose of death.
हिंदी अनुवाद
इसी बीच, सेना के आगे चलने वाले तीन क्रुद्ध सेनानायकों ने एक साथ मिलकर श्रीराम पर धावा बोल दिया। वे मृत्यु के पाश (फंदे) में बंधे हुए थे (अर्थात उनकी मृत्यु निकट थी)।
English Commentary
The vacuum left by Dushana is immediately filled by three lieutenants. The phrase Samhatya (unitedly/together) indicates they realized attacking individually was suicidal. However, the narrator adds the grim epithet mrityupasha-avapashitah (bound by the noose of death). This dramatic irony informs the reader that despite their anger and unity, their fate is already sealed; they are walking dead men.

दूषण के मरते ही उसके तीन मुख्य सेनापतियों ने कमान संभाली। वे 'संहत्य' (एकजुट होकर/मिलकर) श्रीराम पर झपटे, जो उनकी हताशा और श्रीराम के प्रति उनके भयमिश्रित क्रोध को दर्शाता है। वाल्मीकि ने पहले ही भविष्यवाणी कर दी है—'मृत्युपाशावपाशिताः'—वे श्रीराम की ओर नहीं, बल्कि अपनी मृत्यु की ओर दौड़ रहे थे। यह वाक्यांश नियति (fate) की अनिवार्यता को रेखांकित करता है।
