द्वादशैते महावीर्या बलाध्यक्षाः ससैनिकाः ।
राममेवाभ्यधावन्त विसृजन्तः शरोत्तमान् ॥ ॥३-२६-२८॥
Dvādaśaite mahāvīryā balādhyakṣāḥ sasainikāḥ |
Rāmamevābhyadhāvanta visṛjantaḥ śarottamān ॥3-26-28॥
Translation
These twelve mighty army chiefs, along with their troops, rushed towards Rama alone, discharging excellent arrows.

ये बारह महावीर्यवान बलाध्यक्ष (सेनापति) अपनी सेनाओं के साथ उत्तम बाण छोड़ते हुए केवल श्रीराम की ओर ही दौड़े।
English Commentary
The target fixation is absolute: they rushed at Rama alone (Ramam eva). It is a coordinated assault by the twelve commanders backed by their respective platoons (sasainikah). The mention of sharottaman (excellent arrows) confirms that this final wave consists of skilled archers capable of long-range engagement, escalating the threat level from the previous melee charge.
