Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
ते रुक्मपुङ्खा विशिखाः सधूमा इव पावकाः ।
निजघ्नुस्तानि रक्षांसि वज्रा इव महाद्रुमान् ॥ ॥३-२६-३०॥
Te rukmapuṅkhā viśikhāḥ sadhūmā iva pāvakāḥ |
Nijaghmustāni rakṣāṃsi vajrā iva mahādrumān ॥3-26-30॥
Translation
Those gold-feathered arrows, looking like fires with smoke, struck down those demons just as thunderbolts strike down mighty trees.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे सोने के पंख वाले बाण (रुक्मपुङ्खा) धूम्रयुक्त अग्नि के समान लग रहे थे। उन्होंने उन राक्षसों को वैसे ही नष्ट कर दिया जैसे वज्र बड़े पेड़ों को नष्ट कर देता है।
English Commentary
The visual imagery here is kinetic. The gold-feathered arrows (Rukmapunkha) moving at high velocity appeared like Sadhumah Pavakah (smoky fires)—perhaps trailing sparks or blurring the air. The impact is compared to Vajra (thunderbolts) felling trees. This reinforces the idea of an irresistible force meeting massive objects; the demons, despite their size, had no defense against these missile strikes.

बाणों का वेग इतना अधिक था कि हवा के घर्षण या अपनी ऊर्जा के कारण वे 'सधूमा इव पावकाः' (धुएँ वाली आग) जैसे लग रहे थे। 'रुक्मपुङ्खा' (सोने के पंख वाले) बाण जब चलते थे तो आकाश में एक सुनहरी लकीर खिंच जाती थी। उपमा 'वज्रा इव महाद्रुमान्' पुनः दोहराई गई है क्योंकि राक्षसों का गिरना किसी विशाल वन के उजड़ने जैसा दृश्य उपस्थित कर रहा था।
