खरः त्रिशिरसा तेन मृत्यु लोभात् प्रसादितः ।
गच्छ युध्य इति अनुज्ञातो राघव अभिमुखो ययौ ॥ ॥३-२७-६॥
Kharaḥ triśirasā tena mṛtyu lobhāt prasāditaḥ |
Gaccha yudhya iti anujñāto rāghava abhimukho yayau ॥3-27-6॥
Translation
Khara, propitiated by Trishira who was acting under the lure of death, gave his permission saying, "Go and fight." Thus permitted, Trishira marched towards Raghava.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मृत्यु के लोभ (वशीभूत होने) के कारण त्रिशिरा द्वारा प्रसन्न किए गए खर ने "जाओ, युद्ध करो," ऐसी आज्ञा दी। आज्ञा पाकर वह (त्रिशिरा) राघव (राम) के सम्मुख गया।
English Commentary
The phrase mṛtyu lobhāt (due to greed/lure of death) is laden with dramatic irony. While Trishira believes he is eager for glory, the narrator reveals the grim reality: he is being lured by his own mortality. It suggests that his eagerness to fight Rama is a symptom of his impending doom. Khara’s permission marks the seal of fate. This verse highlights the concept that destiny often disguises self-destruction as bravery or ambition in the minds of the doomed.

यहाँ 'मृत्यु लोभात्' (मृत्यु के लोभ से) वाक्यांश अत्यंत व्यंग्यात्मक और दार्शनिक है। त्रिशिरा को लगता है कि वह विजय के लोभ में युद्ध मांग रहा है, किन्तु कवि स्पष्ट करते हैं कि यह वास्तव में मृत्यु का आकर्षण है जो उसे खींच रहा है। नियति ने उसकी बुद्धि को हर लिया है। खर का उसे अनुमति देना भी विनाश का संकेत है। यह श्लोक दर्शाता है कि जब विनाश निकट आता है, तो व्यक्ति स्वयं अपनी मृत्यु की ओर दौड़ता है, जिसे 'कालोपहत बुद्धि' (समय द्वारा मारी गई बुद्धि) कहा जाता है।
