Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
हन्तारम् सर्व सैन्यस्य पौरुषे पर्यवस्थितम् ।
परिश्रन्तम् महासत्त्वम् मेने रामम् खरः तदा ॥ ॥३-२८-१२॥
hantāram sarva sainyasya pauruṣe paryavasthitam |
pariśrantam mahāsattvam mene rāmam kharaḥ tadā ॥3-28-12॥
Translation
Khara then considered the mighty Rama, who had destroyed his entire army and stood firm in his valor, to be fatigued.

अपनी सम्पूर्ण सेना का संहार करने वाले और अपने पौरुष में स्थित महाबली श्रीराम को, उस समय खर ने थका हुआ (परिश्रान्त) माना।
English Commentary
This verse highlights a critical tactical error born of Khara's arrogance. Although Rama had single-handedly decimated an entire army, he remained established in his Paurusha (virility/valor) and is described as Mahasattvam (one of great essence/strength). However, Khara misinterpreted this stillness as fatigue (parishrantam). He assumed that the physical exertion of the battle must have drained Rama. This underestimation contrasts the limited perception of the demon against the boundless spiritual and physical stamina of the Avatar. It marks the moment Khara foolishly believes he has the advantage.

यह श्लोक खर की मनोवैज्ञानिक भ्रांति और अहंकार को दर्शाता है। यद्यपि श्रीराम ने उसकी विशाल सेना का अकेले संहार किया था ('हन्तारम् सर्व सैन्यस्य'), फिर भी वे अपने 'पौरुष' में अडिग थे। श्रीराम के लिए 'महासत्त्वम्' विशेषण का प्रयोग किया गया है, जिसका अर्थ है महान बल और धैर्य वाला व्यक्ति। किन्तु, खर ने श्रीराम के पौरुष को न देखकर, केवल शारीरिक श्रम का अनुमान लगाया और उन्हें 'परिश्रान्त' (थका हुआ) समझ लिया। शत्रु की शक्ति का गलत आकलन ही प्रायश्चित का कारण बनता है। खर श्रीराम के भीतर छिपी अनंत ऊर्जा को पहचानने में विफल रहा।
