स पुनः तु अपरान् सप्त शरान् आदाय वर्मणि ।
निजघान रणे क्रुद्धः शक्र अशनि सम प्रभान् ॥ ॥३-२८-१६॥

Translation
Then, taking up seven other arrows shining like Indra's thunderbolt, the enraged Khara struck Rama's armor in the battle.

धनुष काटने के बाद, क्रोधित खर ने पुनः इंद्र के वज्र के समान प्रभावशाली सात अन्य बाण लेकर युद्ध में श्रीराम के कवच पर प्रहार किया।
English Commentary
Khara presses his advantage immediately. Driven by rage (kruddhah), he launches a volley of seven arrows. The comparison of these arrows to Shakra ashani (Indra's thunderbolt) emphasizes their destructive potential and brilliance. Khara targets Rama's armor (varmani), intending to penetrate his defenses while Rama is momentarily without a bow. This relentless assault demonstrates the ferocity of the combat. The verse creates a sense of urgency, showing that Rama is under severe physical pressure from an opponent wielding weapons of celestial potency.

खर का क्रोध और आक्रमण की तीव्रता यहाँ स्पष्ट है। धनुष काटने के तुरंत बाद, बिना श्रीराम को संभलने का अवसर दिए, उसने सात बाण छोड़े। इन बाणों की तुलना 'शक्र अशनि' (इंद्र के वज्र) से की गई है, जो प्रहार की भयंकरता को दर्शाती है। खर का लक्ष्य श्रीराम का 'वर्म' (कवच) था। यह वर्णन दिखाता है कि खर अब पूरी तरह आक्रामक मुद्रा में है और निहत्थे (टूटे धनुष वाले) शत्रु पर भी दया नहीं कर रहा, जो राक्षसी युद्ध नीति के अनुरूप है। 'क्रुद्धः' शब्द खर की मानसिक स्थिति को बताता है—वह विवेक खोकर केवल विनाश चाहता है।
