ततः पश्चात् महातेजा नाराचान् भास्कर उपमान् ।
जघान राक्षसम् क्रुद्धः त्रयोदश शिला अशितान् ॥ ॥३-२८-२८॥
tataḥ paścāt mahātejā nārācān bhāskara upamān |
jaghāna rākṣasam kruddhaḥ trayodaśa śilā aśitān ॥3-28-28॥
Translation
Thereafter, the greatly resplendent and enraged Rama struck the demon with thirteen Naracha arrows that were like the sun and had been sharpened on stone.

उसके पश्चात, महातेजस्वी और क्रुद्ध श्रीराम ने सूर्य के समान चमकने वाले और पत्थर पर घिसकर तेज किए गए (शिला अशितान्) तेरह नाराच (लोहे के बाण) राक्षस पर छोड़े।
English Commentary
Ramping up the offensive, Rama selects a specific set of thirteen Naracha (iron) arrows. The descriptor shila ashitan (whetted/sharpened on stone) emphasizes their razor-sharp penetration power. They are compared to the sun (bhaskara upaman), suggesting they were flashing with speed and energy. While the previous six arrows targeted Khara's body, these thirteen are intended to strip him of his vehicle and support, effectively grounding the demon. The specificity of the number thirteen indicates another sequence of calculated targeting is about to unfold.
