Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तद् बभूव शितैः बाणैः खर राम विसर्जितैः ।
परि आकाशम् अनाकाशम् सर्वतः शर संकुलम् ॥ ॥३-२८-८॥
Tad babhūva śitaiḥ bāṇaiḥ khara rāma visarjitaiḥ |
Pari ākāśam anākāśam sarvataḥ śara saṃkulam ॥3-28-8॥
Translation
The sky became "non-sky" due to the sharp arrows released by both Khara and Rama, as it was crowded with arrows on all sides.
हिंदी अनुवाद
खर और राम द्वारा छोड़े गए उन तीखे बाणों से सब ओर बाण ही बाण व्याप्त हो जाने के कारण वह आकाश, 'अनाकाश' (आकाश के गुण से रहित/ठोस) हो गया।
English Commentary
This verse features a striking poetic paradox: the sky became anākāśam (un-sky). Since the defining property of the sky (Akasha) is space or emptiness, the sheer volume of arrows released by both combatants negated its very nature. The air was so clogged with weaponry that it appeared solid. This illustrates the ferocity and equality of the exchange at this stage—neither side is giving an inch of space.

वाल्मीकि यहाँ एक अद्भुत काव्यात्मक शब्द 'अनाकाशम्' (अनाकाश) का सृजन करते हैं। आकाश का गुण है 'अवकाश' (खाली जगह) देना। लेकिन बाणों की सघनता इतनी थी कि आकाश ने अपना वह गुण खो दिया और वह एक ठोस दीवार जैसा बन गया। यह बताता है कि दोनों योद्धाओं की गति और बाणों की संख्या कल्पना से परे थी। यह युद्ध का वह चरण है जहाँ दर्शक को योद्धा नहीं, केवल उड़ते हुए बाण दिखाई देते हैं।
