पापम् आचरताम् घोरम् लोकस्य अप्रियम् इच्छताम् ।
अहम् आसादितो राज्ञा प्राणान् हन्तुम् निशाचर ॥ ॥३-२९-१०॥
pāpam ācaratām ghoram lokasya apriyam icchatām |
aham āsādito rājñā prāṇān hantum niśācara ॥3-29-10॥
Translation
"O night-wanderer, I have been reached/commissioned by the King to take the lives of those who commit terrible sins and wish ill upon the world."
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे निशाचर! घोर पाप करने वाले और संसार का अहित चाहने वाले तुम जैसे लोगों के प्राण हरने के लिए ही, राजा (दशरथ/भरत या स्वयं धर्मराज) द्वारा मैं यहाँ नियुक्त किया गया हूँ (या भेजा गया हूँ)।
English Commentary
Rama clarifies his jurisdiction. He is not fighting a private vendetta; he is executing an official duty. By stating he is commissioned "by the King" (rajna—referring to his role as the representative of the Ayodhya throne or the cosmic law), he asserts his legal and moral authority to execute capital punishment on those who harm the world (lokasya apriyam). He positions himself as the arm of justice. This transforms the battlefield into a court where the sentence is death, and he is the executioner.

श्रीराम यहाँ अपने वनवास के उद्देश्य को पुनर्परिभाषित करते हैं। वे केवल एक निर्वासित राजकुमार नहीं हैं, बल्कि वे 'राज्ञा' (राजा द्वारा - यह दशरथ की आज्ञा हो सकती है, या भरत के प्रतिनिधि के रूप में, या लाक्षणिक रूप से 'धर्मराज' की आज्ञा) दण्ड देने के लिए अधिकृत हैं। 'आसादितो' का अर्थ है प्राप्त हुआ या पहुँचा हुआ। वे स्वयं को एक 'एग्जीक्यूशनर' (दंडाधिकारी) के रूप में प्रस्तुत करते हैं। उनका व्यक्तिगत कोई वैर नहीं है; वे केवल राज्य और धर्म की व्यवस्था को लागू कर रहे हैं। यह उनके कार्य को वैधता (legitimacy) प्रदान करता है।
