Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
ये त्वया दण्डकारण्ये भक्षिता धर्म चारिणः ।
तान् अद्य निहतः संख्ये स सैन्यो अनुगमिष्यसि ॥ ॥३-२९-१२॥
ye tvayā daṇḍakāraṇye bhakṣitā dharma cāriṇaḥ |
tān adya nihataḥ saṃkhye sa sainyo anugamiṣyasi ॥3-29-12॥
Translation
"Slain in battle today, you shall follow—along with your army—those righteous ascetics whom you have devoured in the Dandaka forest."
हिंदी अनुवाद
दंडकारण्य में तुमने जिन धर्मचारी ऋषियों का भक्षण किया है, आज युद्ध में मारे जाकर तुम अपनी सेना सहित उन्हीं का अनुसरण करोगे (अर्थात् परलोक जाओगे)।
English Commentary
Rama delivers the final verdict. Khara is condemned to follow the path of his victims. By reminding Khara of the sages he devoured (bhakshitah), Rama justifies the death sentence as retribution. The demon will join his slaughtered army (sa sainyo) in death. This verse connects the past crimes directly to the present punishment, closing the circle of Karma. It is the final statement before the execution, emphasizing that Khara’s death is an act of cosmic balancing.

यह कर्मचक्र का समापन है। खर ने ऋषियों को मारा और खाया; अब उसे भी मरना होगा और उसी मार्ग पर जाना होगा जहाँ उसके पीड़ित गए हैं। 'स सैन्यो' (सेना सहित) कहकर श्रीराम यह याद दिलाते हैं कि उसका पूरा समर्थन तंत्र पहले ही नष्ट हो चुका है, अब केवल उसकी बारी है। यह पीड़ितों के प्रति न्याय (justice for the victims) की घोषणा है। ऋषियों का ऋण खर के वध से ही चुकता होगा। इस श्लोक के साथ श्रीराम का उपदेश समाप्त होता है और अंतिम दंड का क्षण आ जाता है।
