गज अश्व रथ संबाधे बले महति तिष्ठता ।
कृतम् सुदारुणम् कर्म सर्व लोक जुगुप्सितम् ॥ ॥३-२९-२॥
gaja aśva ratha saṃbādhe bale mahati tiṣṭhatā |
kṛtam sudāruṇam karma sarva loka jugupsitam ॥3-29-2॥
Translation
(Rama said:) "Situated amidst a great army crowded with elephants, horses, and chariots, you have committed exceedingly cruel deeds that are despised by all the worlds."
हिंदी अनुवाद
(श्रीराम ने कहा:) हाथी, घोड़े और रथों से भरी हुई विशाल सेना के बीच रहते हुए भी, तुमने समस्त लोकों द्वारा निंदित (जुगुप्सितम्) अत्यंत क्रूर कर्म किए हैं।
English Commentary
Rama indicts Khara for the misuse of power. Possessing a massive military force (bale mahati) comprised of elephants, horses, and chariots should have made Khara a protector. Instead, he used this might to commit acts that were sudarunam (very cruel) and jugupsitam (disgusting/despised) to all worlds. Rama points out the tragic irony: greatness in resources was matched only by the greatness of his depravity. This sets the premise for the punishment: power without Dharma is merely an instrument of terror that invites universal condemnation.
हिंदी टीका
श्रीराम यहाँ शक्ति और उत्तरदायित्व के संबंध को स्पष्ट कर रहे हैं। खर के पास 'महति बले' (विशाल सेना) थी। शक्ति का उद्देश्य रक्षा करना होता है, न कि अत्याचार। लेकिन खर ने उस शक्ति के मद में 'सुदारुणम् कर्म' (अत्यंत भयानक कर्म) किए। 'सर्व लोक जुगुप्सितम्' का अर्थ है कि उसके कार्य केवल मनुष्यों को नहीं, बल्कि समस्त लोकों को घृणित लगे। श्रीराम यह बता रहे हैं कि साधन संपन्न होकर अधर्म करना अक्षम्य अपराध है। जिसके पास जितनी अधिक शक्ति होती है, उसका नैतिक पतन उतना ही अधिक विनाशकारी होता है।
