चतुर्दश सहस्राणि राक्षसानाम् हतानि ते ।
त्वत् विनाशात् करोमि अद्य तेषाम् अश्रु प्रमार्जनम् ॥ ॥३-२९-२४॥
Caturdaśa sahasrāṇi rākṣasānām hatāni te |
Tvat vināśāt karomi adya teṣām aśru pramārjanam ॥3-29-24॥
Translation
Fourteen thousand demons have been killed by you. By destroying you today, I shall wipe away their tears (avenge them).
हिंदी अनुवाद
तुमने चौदह हजार राक्षसों का वध किया है। आज तुम्हारा विनाश करके, मैं उनके (परिजनों के) आंसुओं को पोंछ दूंगा।
English Commentary
Khara concludes his speech by framing the duel as an act of vengeance for his fallen army. He acknowledges the magnitude of Rama's feat—killing caturdaśa sahasrāṇi (14,000) demons—but twists it into a motivation for revenge. The phrase aśru pramārjanam (wiping away the tears) is poetic and emotive; it implies that the spirits of the dead demons and their grieving families will find peace only with Rama's death. Khara positions himself not just as a warrior, but as the avenger of his race, adding an emotional weight to his lethal intent.

खर यहाँ अपने युद्ध का औचित्य (justification) सिद्ध कर रहा है। वह स्वयं को प्रतिशोध लेने वाले नायक के रूप में प्रस्तुत करता है। राम ने जनस्थान के 14,000 राक्षसों का वध किया था। खर कहता है कि राम को मारकर वह 'अश्रु प्रमार्जनम्' (आँसू पोंछना/तर्पण करना) करेगा। यह श्लोक खर के चरित्र में एक नेतृत्वकर्ता और संरक्षक (protector of his clan) का भाव भी दिखाता है, जो अपने साथियों की मृत्यु से आहत है। वह इस युद्ध को केवल व्यक्तिगत नहीं, बल्कि सामूहिक प्रतिशोध मानता है।
