स विद्धो न्यस्य वैदेहीम् शूलम् उद्यम्य राक्षसः ।
अभ्यद्रवत् सुसंक्रुद्धः तदा रामम् स लक्ष्मणम् ॥ ॥३-३-१३॥
Sa viddho nyasya vaidehīm śūlam udyamya rākṣasaḥ |
abhyadravat susaṃkruddhaḥ tadā rāmam sa lakṣmaṇam ॥3-3-13॥
Translation
Pierced by arrows, the demon set Vaidehi (Sita) down, raised his trident, and furiously rushed toward Rama and Lakshmana.

बाणों से बिंधा हुआ वह राक्षस, वैदेही (सीता) को नीचे रखकर और अपना शूल उठाकर अत्यंत क्रोध में श्रीराम और लक्ष्मण की ओर दौड़ा।
English Commentary
The impact of the brothers' arrows forces a tactical change in the demon. Until this moment, holding Sita hostage was his leverage and defense. However, overwhelmed by pain and rage (susaṃkruddhaḥ), Viradha abandons his prize to focus entirely on eliminating the threat. By placing Sita down, he unwittingly removes the primary constraint holding Rama back. The verse captures the demon's shift from kidnapping to pure combat aggression as he raises his weapon, the shula (trident), and charges. This marks the transition from a rescue mission to a direct duel between the righteous princes and the monstrous aggressor.

बाणों के प्रहार से आहत होकर विराध की रणनीति बदल गई। अब तक उसने माता सीता को पकड़ रखा था, जो श्रीराम के लिए युद्ध में सबसे बड़ी बाधा थी। आघात की पीड़ा और क्रोध के कारण उसने सीता जी को मुक्त कर दिया, जिससे श्रीराम और लक्ष्मण को खुलकर युद्ध करने का अवसर मिल गया। 'सुसंक्रुद्धः' शब्द उसके अनियंत्रित क्रोध को दर्शाता है। वह बिना किसी रक्षात्मक मुद्रा के सीधे आक्रमण (अभ्यद्रवत्) के लिए दौड़ पड़ा। यह क्षण युद्ध का एक निर्णायक मोड़ है, क्योंकि सीता जी अब उसकी पकड़ से दूर हैं, और अब यह सीधे शक्ति का परीक्षण है।
