अथ तौ भ्रातरौ दीप्तम् शर वर्षम् ववर्षतुः ।
विराधे राक्षसे तस्मिन् कालांतक अयम् उपमे ॥ ॥३-३-१५॥
Atha tau bhrātarau dīptam śara varṣam vavarṣatuḥ |
virādhe rākṣase tasmin kālāntaka ayam upame ॥3-3-15॥
Translation
Thereafter, the two brothers unleashed a torrential rain of blazing arrows upon that demon Viradha, who resembled the Destroyer (Time/Death) himself.

तत्पश्चात उन दोनों भाइयों ने काल और यमराज के समान दिखने वाले उस राक्षस विराध पर प्रज्वलित बाणों की वर्षा कर दी।
English Commentary
Undeterred by Viradha's resemblance to Kala (Time) and Antaka (Death), Rama and Lakshmana respond with overwhelming force. The phrase shara varsham (rain of arrows) suggests a high-frequency volley intended to suppress the enemy's advance. This verse showcases the martial synergy between the two brothers; they act as a single unit responding to a massive threat. The description of the arrows as diptam (blazing or shining) contrasts with the dark nature of the demon, symbolizing the clash of light/divinity against darkness/evil. It illustrates the principle that facing a 'death-like' fear requires a relentless and spirited offensive.

विराध के भयानक रूप को देखकर दोनों भाई तनिक भी विचलित नहीं हुए, बल्कि उन्होंने अपने आक्रमण की गति और बढ़ा दी। 'शर वर्षम्' (बाणों की वर्षा) शब्द बताता है कि बाणों की संख्या इतनी अधिक थी कि वे वर्षा की बूंदों के समान गिर रहे थे। यहाँ विराध को पुनः 'कालांतक' (काल और अंत करने वाला) के समान कहा गया है, जिससे यह स्पष्ट होता है कि शत्रु साधारण नहीं था। श्रीराम और लक्ष्मण का यह संयुक्त आक्रमण उनके उत्कृष्ट युद्ध कौशल और आपसी समन्वय (coordination) का परिचायक है। वे शत्रु को संभलने का कोई अवसर नहीं देना चाहते थे।
