स वध्यमान सुभृशम् भुजाभ्याम् परिगृह्य तौ ।
अप्रकंप्यौ नरव्याघ्रौ रौद्रः प्रस्थातुम् ऐच्छत ॥ ॥३-३-२१॥
Sa vadhyamāna subhṛśam bhujābhyām parigṛhya tau |
aprakampyau naravyāghrau raudraḥ prasthātum aicchata ॥3-3-21॥
Translation
Though being struck violently, that fierce demon seized those two immovable tigers among men with his arms and attempted to set off with them.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तलवारों से बुरी तरह घायल होने पर भी, उस भयानक राक्षस ने उन दोनों अडिग पुरुष-सिंहों (राम और लक्ष्मण) को अपनी भुजाओं में जकड़ लिया और उन्हें लेकर वहाँ से चले जाने की इच्छा की।
English Commentary
This verse illustrates the terrifying advantage of Viradha's immunity. Despite being hacked at ('struck violently') by swords, he ignores the wounds. He treats the attacks as negligible and uses his massive size to grapple the brothers. The epithets aprakampyau (immovable) and naravyaghrau (tigers among men) are used for Rama and Lakshmana, emphasizing that they are not weak, yet the demon's supernatural strength allows him to seize them both. His intention is to carry them away (prasthatum aicchata), shifting the dynamic from a weapon-based duel to a kidnapping attempt of the heroes themselves.

विराध की सहनशक्ति अद्भुत है। 'वध्यमान सुभृशम्' (अत्यधिक घायल किए जाने पर भी) वह विचलित नहीं हुआ। चूंकि अस्त्र उसे मार नहीं सकते थे, उसने शारीरिक बल का प्रयोग किया और दोनों भाइयों को पकड़ लिया। राम और लक्ष्मण को 'नरव्याघ्रौ' (नरश्रेष्ठ या पुरुषों में बाघ समान) और 'अप्रकंप्यौ' (जो कांपते नहीं/अडिग हैं) कहा गया है, फिर भी विराध उन्हें उठाने में सफल रहा। उसकी मंशा उन्हें खा जाने या दूर ले जाकर मारने की थी। यह स्थिति संकटपूर्ण है क्योंकि भगवान राम और लक्ष्मण अब राक्षस की पकड़ में हैं, जिससे शारीरिक संघर्ष का एक नया चरण शुरू होता है।
