यथा च इच्छति सोउमित्रे तथा वहतु राक्षसः ।
अयम् एव हि नः पन्था येन याति निशाचरः ॥ ॥३-३-२३॥
Yathā ca icchati saumitre tathā vahatu rākṣasaḥ |
ayam eva hi naḥ panthā yena yāti niśācaraḥ ॥3-3-23॥
Translation
"O Son of Sumitra! Let the demon carry us however he wishes. For the path this night-wanderer is taking is indeed the very path we need to go."

"हे सुमित्रानंदन! यह राक्षस जैसी इच्छा करे, वैसे हमें ले चले। जिस मार्ग से यह निशाचर जा रहा है, वही तो हमारा भी मार्ग है।"
English Commentary
Rama displays a touch of divine irony and fearlessness here. He remarks to Lakshmana that the demon is unwittingly serving them by carrying them in the direction they intended to travel anyway. By stating "this is indeed our path," Rama reclaims agency over the situation. It serves two purposes: it calms Lakshmana's potential rage or anxiety, and it reinforces the philosophy that even obstacles (like the demon) can be instrumental in one's journey if approached with the right mindset. It transforms a terrifying abduction into a mere mode of transport.

श्रीराम यहाँ विनोद और गम्भीरता का मिश्रण प्रदर्शित करते हैं। वे कहते हैं कि राक्षस हमें उसी दिशा में ले जा रहा है जहाँ हमें जाना था, तो पैदल चलने का श्रम क्यों करें? यह कथन लक्ष्मण के क्रोध को शांत करने और भय के वातावरण को हल्का करने के लिए भी था। आध्यात्मिक दृष्टि से देखें, तो यह 'दैव' (प्रारब्ध) पर विश्वास को दर्शाता है—कि जो हो रहा है, वह अंततः हमारे लक्ष्य की ओर ही ले जाएगा। श्रीराम का यह आत्मविश्वास दिखाता है कि वे स्थिति के स्वामी हैं, न कि पीड़ित।
