उत्सृज्य प्रमदाम् एनाम् अनपेक्षौ यथा आगतम् ।
त्वरमाणौ पलायेथाम् न वाम् जीवितम् आददे ॥ ॥३-३-७॥
utsṛjya pramadām enām anapekṣau yathā āgatam । tvaramāṇau palāyethām na vām jīvitam ādade ॥ ॥3-3-7॥
Translation
Abandoning this young woman, and without looking back (or casting hope aside), run away quickly just as you came. [If you do so,] I shall not take your lives.
हिंदी अनुवाद
इस युवती (सीता) को त्यागकर, बिना पीछे देखे (निराश होकर) जैसे आए थे वैसे ही तुरंत भाग जाओ। [यदि ऐसा करोगे तो] मैं तुम्हारे प्राण नहीं लूँगा।
English Commentary
Viradha offers a bargain that is anathema to the warrior code: trade the wife for life. He commands them to leave Sita ('utsṛjya pramadām') and flee. This underestimates Rama entirely, assuming he operates on the instinct of self-preservation rather than Dharma and honor. By offering not to take their lives ('na vām jīvitam ādade'), Viradha positions himself as the merciful victor, which is the ultimate provocation to the princes.

यह विराध द्वारा दी गई अंतिम चेतावनी और घोर अपमान है। क्षत्रिय के लिए अपनी पत्नी को शत्रु के हाथ में छोड़कर भाग जाना मृत्यु से भी बदतर है। 'अनपेक्षौ' का अर्थ है 'बिना अपेक्षा के' या 'उदासीन होकर'। विराध उन्हें जीवन का लोभ दे रहा है, यह सोचकर कि वे साधारण मनुष्य हैं जो प्राण बचाने के लिए पत्नी का त्याग कर देंगे। यह प्रस्ताव राम के क्रोध को प्रज्वलित करने के लिए घी का काम करता है।
