भित्त्वा तु ताम् गदाम् बाणैः राघवो धर्म वत्सलः ।
स्मयमानः खरम् वाक्यम् संरब्धम् इदम् अब्रवीत् ॥ ॥३-३०-१॥
Bhittvā tu tām gadām bāṇaiḥ rāghavo dharma vatsalaḥ |
Smayamānaḥ kharam vākyam saṃrabdham idam abravīt ॥3-30-1॥
Translation
Having shattered that mace with his arrows, Raghava, the lover of righteousness, smilingly spoke these angry words to Khara.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस गदा को बाणों से तोड़ने के बाद, धर्मवत्सल राघव (श्रीराम) ने मुस्कुराते हुए खर से यह क्रोधपूर्ण (या आवेशयुक्त) वचन कहा।
English Commentary
The verse captures Rama’s composure. He is dharma vatsalaḥ (cherisher of Dharma/Righteousness). Despite the intensity of combat, he is smayamānaḥ (smiling). This smile acts as a psychological weapon against Khara, showing that the demon's best effort failed to impress him. However, his message is saṃrabdham (agitated/angry/stern). This juxtaposition of a calm demeanor with stern intent highlights Rama's control over the situation compared to Khara’s chaotic rage.
