श्यामः पृथुयशाः श्रीमान् अतुल्य बल विक्रमः ।
हतः तेन जनस्थाने खरः च सह दूषणः ॥ ॥३-३१-११॥
śyāmaḥ pṛthuyaśāḥ śrīmān atulya bala vikramaḥ । hataḥ tena janasthāne kharaḥ ca saha dūṣaṇaḥ ॥ ॥3-31-11॥
Translation
"He is dark-complexioned, of widespread fame, glorious, and of incomparable strength and valor. He is the one who killed Khara along with Dushana in Janasthana."

"वह श्याम वर्ण का है, महान यशस्वी है, शोभासम्पन्न (श्रीमान) है और उसका बल तथा पराक्रम अतुलनीय है। उसी ने जनस्थान में दूषण सहित खर को मारा है।"
English Commentary
Akampana concludes the identification. Shyama refers to Rama's dark-blue/black complexion. The adjective Atulya-bala-vikrama (incomparable strength and valor) is a direct warning to Ravana: this is an enemy without equal. The pivotal information follows: Khara and Dushana were killed by him (tena—singular instrumental case). This singularity is the core of the message—the entire destruction was a one-man show.

यहाँ राम के गुणों का वर्णन है। 'श्यामः' (सांवला रंग) और 'श्रीमान' (दिव्य कांति युक्त) उनके आकर्षक व्यक्तित्व को बताते हैं। सबसे महत्वपूर्ण वाक्यांश है 'अतुल्य बल विक्रमः'—अर्थात् उसके बल की तुलना किसी से नहीं की जा सकती (रावण से भी नहीं)। अकंपन स्पष्ट करता है कि खर और दूषण की मृत्यु किसी सेना ने नहीं, बल्कि 'तेन' (उस अकेले ने) की है। यह रावण के लिए सबसे बड़ा झटका है—एक अकेले मानव ने 14,000 राक्षसों को मिटा दिया।
