This verse moves from physical warfare to supernatural devastation. It describes Rama's arrows transforming into 'five-headed serpents' (Sarpāḥ pañcānanā). This suggests the use of high-level celestial weaponry (Astras). The imagery of arrows 'devouring' the demons creates a scene of horror. The psychological impact is highlighted by the phrase 'bhaya karśitāḥ'—the demons were physically emaciated or paralyzed by sheer terror.
