सीताम् इह आनय इति को ब्रवीति ब्रवीहि मे ।
रक्षो लोकस्य सर्वस्य कः शृंगम् च्छेत्तुम् इच्छति ॥३-३१-४३॥
sītām iha ānaya iti ko bravīti bravīhi me |
rakṣo lokasya sarvasya kaḥ śṛṅgam cchettum icchati ॥3-31-43॥
Translation
"Bring Sita here"—tell me, who says this to you? Who wishes to sever the very summit (pinnacle/existence) of the entire Rakshasa race?

"सीता को यहाँ ले आओ"—ऐसा आपसे कौन कह रहा है, मुझे बताइये। वह कौन है जो समस्त राक्षस लोक के शिखर (अस्तित्व/वैभव) को काट देना चाहता है?
English Commentary
Maricha escalates his warning from personal danger to existential threat. He equates the abduction of Sita with "severing the summit" of the Rakshasa race. This metaphor implies that Ravana is the peak of their civilization, and this act will bring him—and consequently all Rakshasas—crashing down. Maricha demands to know the author of this plan, labeling them not just as an enemy of Ravana, but as a genocidal threat to their entire species. It highlights Maricha's foresight regarding the total annihilation that Rama is capable of inflicting.
