प्रोत्साहयति यः च त्वम् स च शत्रुः असंशयम् ।
आशी मुखात् दंष्ट्राम् उद्धर्तुम् च इच्छति त्वया ॥३-३१-४४॥
protsāhayati yaḥ ca tvam sa ca śatruḥ asaṃśayam |
āśī mukhāt daṃṣṭrām uddhartum ca icchati tvayā ॥3-31-44॥
Translation
"He who encourages you is undoubtedly an enemy. He wishes to extract a fang from the mouth of a venomous serpent using you (as the tool)."

जो आपको (इस कार्य के लिए) प्रोत्साहित कर रहा है, वह निस्संदेह शत्रु है। वह आपके माध्यम से विषैले सर्प के मुख से दाढ़ (दांत) निकलवाना चाहता है।
English Commentary
Maricha uses a vivid and dangerous metaphor. He compares Rama to a venomous serpent and the act of abduction to extracting its fang. By encouraging Ravana to do this, the advisor is using Ravana as a disposable tool to perform a suicidal task. The phrase ashimukhat (from the mouth of the serpent) emphasizes the immediacy of the danger. Maricha is telling Ravana: "You are being used to poke death in the face." This is intended to trigger Ravana's self-preservation instinct and his suspicion of being manipulated.

यहाँ मारीच एक बहुत ही सटीक मुहावरे का प्रयोग करता है। राम एक विषैले सर्प (आशीविष) के समान हैं, और सीता को चुराना उस सर्प के मुख से दांत निकालने जैसा प्राणघातक कार्य है। जो व्यक्ति रावण को यह सलाह दे रहा है, वह स्वयं तो सुरक्षित रहना चाहता है लेकिन रावण को 'चिमटे' की तरह प्रयोग कर रहा है। मारीच रावण को समझा रहा है कि उसे बलि का बकरा बनाया जा रहा है। यह उपमा राम की भयंकर शक्ति और उनसे छेड़छाड़ करने के जोखिम को स्पष्ट करती है।
