प्रसीद लंकेश्वर राक्षसेन्द्र लंकाम् प्रसन्नो भव साधु गच्छ ।
त्वम् स्वेषु दारेषु रमस्व नित्यम् रामः स भार्यो रमताम् वनेषु ॥३-३१-४९॥
prasīda laṅkeśvara rākṣasendra laṅkām prasanno bhava sādhu gaccha |
tvam sveṣu dāreṣu ramasva nityam rāmaḥ sa bhāryo ramatām vaneṣu ॥3-31-49॥
Translation
"Be gracious, O Lord of Lanka, O King of Rakshasas! Be pleased and go back to Lanka properly. You should delight always in your own wives, and let Rama delight in the forests with his wife."
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे लंकेश्वर! हे राक्षसेन्द्र! प्रसन्न होइये (क्रोध त्यागें)। प्रसन्न होकर चुपचाप लंका लौट जाइये। आप अपनी पत्नियों के साथ नित्य रमण (आनंद) करें और राम अपनी पत्नी के साथ वनों में रमण करें।
English Commentary
Maricha concludes his plea with a call for peace and sanity. He implores Ravana to "be gracious" (prasida) and return to Lanka. The advice is simple: stick to your own domain and enjoy the vast pleasures you already possess (sveshu dareshu - with your own wives), and let Rama live his life in the forest. This creates a picture of parallel existences where conflict is unnecessary. It is a direct appeal to contentment over greed, urging Ravana to choose the safety of his current prosperity over the gamble of war.
