विष्णु चक्र निपातैः च शतशो देव संयुगे ।
अन्यैः शस्त्रैः प्रहारैः च महायुद्धेषु ताडितम् ॥३-३२-१०॥
viṣṇu cakra nipātaiḥ ca śataśo deva saṃyuge |
anyaiḥ śastraiḥ prahāraiḥ ca mahāyuddheṣu tāḍitam ॥3-32-10॥
Translation
In battles with the gods, he had been struck hundreds of times by the impacts of Vishnu's discus, and by the blows of other weapons in great wars.
हिंदी अनुवाद
देवताओं के साथ हुए युद्धों में सैकड़ों बार विष्णु के चक्र (सुदर्शन) के आघातों से, तथा महायुद्धों में अन्य शस्त्रों के प्रहारों से वह (रावण) ताड़ित (घायल/चिह्नित) था।
English Commentary
Ravana's toughness is exalted by listing his survival against the ultimate weapon: Vishnu's Sudarshana Chakra. Being struck "hundreds of times" (shatasho) by the discus and surviving implies a nearly indestructible constitution. It establishes him as an adversary worthy of Vishnu's avatar. The mention of Vishnu here is significant narrative foreshadowing; the scars remind us that Ravana is an ancient enemy of the Preserver, and their conflict is destined to conclude in this lifetime.

यह श्लोक रावण की सबसे बड़ी उपलब्धि को परोक्ष रूप से बताता है—वह विष्णु के सुदर्शन चक्र की चोटें खाकर भी जीवित है। 'विष्णु चक्र निपातैः' (विष्णु चक्र के गिरने/चोट से) उसका शरीर अंकित है। यह रावण की असाधारण जीवटता को सिद्ध करता है। यह भविष्य का संकेत भी है कि अंततः विष्णु (राम रूप में) ही उसका वध करेंगे, लेकिन अभी तक उसने उन प्रहारों को सहन किया है। यह उसके अतीत के संघर्षों की क्रूरता को दर्शाता है।
