कामगम् रथम् आस्थाय शुशुभे राक्षसाधिपः ।
विद्युन् मण्डलवान् मेघः स बलाक इव अंबरे ॥३-३५-१०॥
Kāmagam ratham āsthāya śuśubhe rākṣasādhipaḥ |
Vidyun maṇḍalavān meghaḥ sa balāka iva aṃbare ॥3-35-10॥
Translation
Seated in that chariot capable of moving at will, the Lord of Rakshasas shone in the sky like a cloud accompanied by a circle of lightning and a flight of cranes.

उस कामग रथ पर बैठे हुए राक्षसराज रावण आकाश में ऐसे सुशोभित हुए, मानो बिजली के मंडल और बगुलों की पंक्ति से युक्त कोई विशाल मेघ हो।
English Commentary
The sequence concludes with a breathtaking aerial simile. As Ravana flies through the sky, he resembles a storm cloud (megha) charged with lightning (vidyun mandalavan—referring to his gold ornaments and chariot) and accompanied by cranes (sa balāka—referring to the white umbrella and whisks). This imagery connects back to Verse 36, maintaining the "storm cloud" motif for the Rakshasas. It captures the grandeur of his flight, merging the terror of a storm with the aesthetic beauty of nature.

आकाश मार्ग से जाते हुए रावण का यह एक मनोरम प्राकृतिक बिम्ब (Nature Imagery) है। रावण का काला शरीर 'मेघ' (बादल) है। उसके सोने के आभूषण और रथ की चमक 'विद्युत्' (बिजली) है। उसका श्वेत छत्र और चँवर, या उसके सफेद वस्त्र 'बलाक' (बगुलों की पंक्ति) के समान हैं। वाल्मीकि जी भयानक राक्षस राज को भी प्रकृति की सुंदर उपमाओं से अलंकृत करते हैं। 'शुशुभे' (शोभायमान हुआ) शब्द बताता है कि उसका व्यक्तित्व, भले ही वह खलनायक हो, अत्यंत प्रभावशाली और तेजस्वी है।
