भ्रातृभिः च सुरान् युद्धे समग्रान् न अभिचिंतये ।
तत् सहायो भव त्वम् मे समर्थो हि असि राक्षस ॥ ॥३-३६-१५॥
bhrātṛbhiḥ ca surān yuddhe samagrān na abhiciṃtaye । tat sahāyo bhava tvam me samartho hi asi rākṣasa ॥ ॥3-36-15॥
Translation
With my brothers, I do not even worry about all the gods combined in battle. Therefore, become my helper, for you are indeed capable, O Rakshasa.
हिंदी अनुवाद
भाइयों के साथ होने पर मैं युद्ध में समस्त देवताओं की भी परवाह नहीं करता। इसलिए तुम मेरे सहायक बनो, क्योंकि हे राक्षस! तुम समर्थ हो।
English Commentary
To convince a reluctant Maricha, Ravana appeals to their shared identity as superior beings who have conquered the heavens. He boasts that with his brothers and allies, he does not care for (na abhichintaye) the collective might of the gods (samagran suran). The logic is implied: if we can defy gods, why fear a human? He reinforces this by telling Maricha samartho hi asi (you are indeed capable). The commentary notes that Ravana is trying to override Maricha’s valid fear of Rama with the intoxicating memory of their past glories, urging him to act according to his Rakshasa nature and capability.

रावण मारीच को विश्वास में लेने के लिए अपनी पुरानी विजयों और शक्ति का उल्लेख करता है। वह कहता है कि जब उसके भाई (कुम्भकर्ण आदि) और मारीच साथ हों, तो 'सुरान् न अभिचिंतये' (मैं देवताओं की भी चिंता नहीं करता)। यह मारीच का मनोबल बढ़ाने का प्रयास है, क्योंकि मारीच राम से डरता है। रावण तर्क दे रहा है: 'जब हम देवताओं को हरा सकते हैं, तो दो वनवासी मानव क्या हैं?' वह अंत में कहता है 'समर्थो हि असि' (तुम समर्थ हो)—यह मारीच की क्षमता (विशेषकर मायावी क्षमता) पर रावण की मुहर है। रावण यहाँ भय और प्रलोभन दोनों का प्रयोग कर रहा है।
