सौवर्णः त्वम् मृगो भूत्वा चित्रो रजत बिन्दुभिः ।
आश्रमे तस्य रामस्य सीतायाः प्रमुखे चर ॥३-३६-१८॥
Sauvarṇaḥ tvam mṛgo bhūtvā citro rajata bindubhiḥ । Āśrame tasya rāmasya sītāyāḥ pramukhe cara ॥3-36-18॥
Translation
Transforming into a golden deer, wonderfully spotted with silver dots, wander in front of Sita in that hermitage of Rama.

तुम चाँदी की बूंदों (चित्तियों) से विचित्र (रंग-बिरंगे), सोने का मृग बनकर उस राम के आश्रम में सीता के सामने विचरण करो।
English Commentary
Here, Ravana unveils the core of his stratagem: the illusion of the Golden Deer. Understanding human psychology and the allure of the extraordinary, he instructs Maricha not to be an ordinary deer, but one of gold (sauvarṇa) and silver spots (rajata bindubhiḥ). Such a creature implies a beauty so rare it borders on the divine or magical, perfectly calculated to captivate Sita. The instruction to wander specifically "in front of Sita" reveals that Ravana intends to use Sita’s fascination as the lever to separate her from her protectors, showing his cunning manipulation of emotions.

यहाँ रावण अपनी योजना का मुख्य भाग रखता है—'कपट-मृग' बनना। रावण स्त्री-सुलभ सौंदर्य-प्रेम को समझता है, इसलिए वह साधारण मृग नहीं, बल्कि 'सौवर्ण' (स्वर्णमय) और 'रजत बिन्दुभिः' (चाँदी की बूंदों वाला) मृग बनने का निर्देश देता है। यह एक ऐसा अद्भुत रूप है जो किसी भी वनवासी, विशेषकर सीता का मन मोह लेने के लिए पर्याप्त है। 'सीतायाः प्रमुखे चर' (सीता के सामने विचरण करो) का निर्देश स्पष्ट करता है कि लक्ष्य केवल राम को हटाना नहीं, बल्कि सीता को लुभाना है ताकि वह स्वयं राम को दूर भेजे। यह रावण की धूर्तता और मनोवैज्ञानिक समझ का परिचायक है।
