अनुक्त्वा परुषम् किंचित् शरैर् व्यापारितम् धनुः ।
चतुर्दश सहस्राणि रक्षसाम् उग्र तेजसाम् ॥ ॥३-३६-८॥
anuktvā paruṣam kiṃcit śarair vyāpāritam dhanuḥ । caturdaśa sahasrāṇi rakṣasām ugra tejasām ॥ ॥3-36-8॥
Translation
Without speaking a single harsh word, he simply operated his bow with arrows, and fourteen thousand demons of fierce energy (were slain).
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस (राम) ने बिना कोई कठोर वचन कहे, केवल बाणों द्वारा अपने धनुष का प्रयोग किया और उग्र तेज वाले चौदह हजार राक्षसों को (समाप्त कर दिया)।
English Commentary
This verse captures a chilling aspect of Rama's martial persona: his silence. Anuktva parusham kimchit (without speaking anything harsh) highlights Rama's supreme focus and lack of egoistic bluster, contrasting sharply with the Rakshasas who rely on noise and intimidation. Rama did not waste breath on insults; he let his bow do the work (sharair vyapitam dhanuh). For Ravana, who thrives on arrogance and vocal displays of power, this silent efficiency is particularly terrifying. The commentary underscores the disparity between the noise of the 14,000 ugra tejasam (fierce energy) demons and the silent, deadly precision of the lone warrior, portraying Rama as a disciplined executioner.
