रामो विग्रहवान् धर्मः साधुः सत्य पराक्रमः ।
राजा सर्वस्य लोकस्य देवानाम् इव वासवः ॥३-३७-१३॥
Rāmo vigrahavān dharmaḥ sādhuḥ satya parākramaḥ । Rājā sarvasya lokasya devānām iva vāsavaḥ ॥3-37-13॥
Translation
Rama is Dharma incarnate (embodied righteousness). He is virtuous and of true valor. He is the king of the entire world, just as Vasava (Indra) is of the gods.

राम साक्षात् विग्रहवान (शरीरधारी) धर्म हैं। वे साधु (सज्जन) हैं और सत्य-पराक्रमी (जिनका पराक्रम कभी व्यर्थ नहीं जाता) हैं। जैसे देवताओं के राजा इन्द्र (वासव) हैं, वैसे ही वे सम्पूर्ण लोकों के राजा हैं।
English Commentary
This is one of the most iconic verses in the Valmiki Ramayana. Maricha, a demon, recognizes Rama’s divinity better than anyone. He defines Rama as Vigrahavān Dharmaḥ—Righteousness in human form. Rama acts not just lawfully, but is the definition of Law itself. He is Satya-parākramaḥ—one whose valor is rooted in truth and is infallible. By calling him the King of the entire world (sarvasya lokasya), akin to Indra (Vāsava), Maricha elevates the conflict from a territorial dispute to a cosmic battle against Dharma itself.

यह रामायण का सबसे प्रसिद्ध और महत्वपूर्ण श्लोकों में से एक है। मारीच, जो एक राक्षस है, राम की सबसे सटीक परिभाषा देता है: 'रामो विग्रहवान् धर्मः' (राम धर्म की मूर्ति हैं)। इसका अर्थ है कि राम जो करते हैं वही धर्म है। 'सत्य पराक्रमः' का अर्थ है कि उनकी शक्ति सत्य पर आधारित है और कभी असफल नहीं होती। मारीच रावण को चेतावनी देता है कि राम केवल अयोध्या के राजकुमार नहीं, बल्कि 'राजा सर्वस्य लोकस्य' (समस्त लोकों के राजा) हैं। ऐसे ईश्वरीय व्यक्तित्व से बैर लेना साक्षात् धर्म और ब्रह्मांड से युद्ध करने जैसा है।
